Meet Katie, your OT

Katie is the Occupational Therapist behind Mind OT, with over 20 years of clinical experience and a strong focus on complex mental health and psychosocial disability.

Katie loves the problem-solving side of OT – understanding what makes everyday life difficult for someone and finding practical, realistic ways to make it easier and more meaningful.

Her experience spans community, rehabilitation and inpatient mental health settings, as well as more than five years working within the NDIS. Katie has particular experience supporting people with complex and co-occurring needs, including cognitive and behavioural challenges, substance use, homelessness and involvement with the forensic or justice system.

Katie holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) from the University of South Australia and a Postgraduate Diploma in Youth Mental Health from the University of Melbourne. She also provides Occupational Therapy tutoring at Adelaide University.

Our experience and areas of support

Every person’s experience is different. At Mind OT, we focus on understanding how a person’s circumstances, mental health and abilities affect everyday life, then provide practical support to build skills, strengthen routines and increase independence.

Our areas of experience include:

  • Severe and persistent mental illness, particularly psychotic disorders, mood disorders and personality disorders

  • Psychosocial disability

  • Functional cognition, including problem-solving, judgement and decision-making

  • Forensic mental health and working with people involved in the justice system

  • Homelessness and housing instability

  • Complex presentations involving multiple co-occurring conditions

  • Collaborative practice across mental health, housing, justice, guardianship and community services

  • Occupational Therapy consultation to government-funded programs, including development of therapy plans and recommendations to support coordinated service delivery

  • Working alongside support teams where complex risks and support needs are present

At Mind OT, we believe therapy should be practical, collaborative and focused on what matters most to each person.

Our approach is calm, consistent and down-to-earth. We take the time to understand each person’s goals, challenges and environment, then work together on practical strategies that make a real difference in everyday life.

Whether it’s building routines, improving problem-solving skills, increasing independence, or supporting families and support teams, our focus is on strategies that work in real life.
